When the PrimeRead Energy Suite passes Billing Determinants Files to the utility’s Billing System, it is absolutely, vitally imperative that the data are secure, that the data are reliable, and that the data can be defended. After all, under US law, and increasingly in other countries, a responsible corporate officer is required to “sign off” on these numbers; and that individual is responsible for their correctness. For this reason the components of the PrimeRead Energy Suite have been architected with the highest levels of modern security in mind. Secure, encrypted transmission of data guarantees that no outside group or individual can tamper with the integrity of those data. Internal to the system, unalterable log files track all changes, edits, and other alterations to revenue data. If any recorded number out of any revenue meter is changed for any reason, by a user or by the system, an unalterable log file flags and explains that change. If a meter parameter is changed, intentionally or otherwise, the meter’s log files, also downloaded from the meter by the system, reflecting such change, are also unalterably and permanently stored in the system.
